Every year COCA-I aims to present the best and most meaningful content at COCAcon and you can help us out! We always value speakers who address the key issues of the day.

This year we will be together (in person!) in Houston, TX. We will also offer a hybrid conference based on speaker or participant need. The theme this year is "Survive and Thrive" and has many levels of meaning for our campers and their families. A portion of COCAcon 2021 will focus on the survivors of cancer including a terrific keynote by Jonny Imerman. We wail also explore how our camps survived and thrived during the unexpected pandemic. Join us to share how your programs and camps thrived this year!

SPEAKER SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 15TH.

Presentation Details

You can provide a presentation one of two ways: In Person- in Houston or Virtually- Live or Pre-Recorded Sessions. We would like all speakers planning to attend in Houston, to pre-record their session and provide it to COCA-I closer to conference time. Please note, virtual sessions may be limited and based on virtual attendees.

Each session is allocated 60 minutes, which includes the presentation, any breakout sessions, wrap-up and Q&A. The format is up to the speaker. Some of the best audience engagement over time has shown a presentation format similar to:

In Person Presentation

  1. Initial Speaker Presentation: The speaker will give a 20-30 minute presentation.
  2. Topics for Discussion: The speaker will present the attendees with 2-3 questions/ topic ideas.
  3. Sub Group Discussions: Small groups may assemble in the session space or another area of the hotel for discussion of the Speaker topics, 10-15 minutes.
  4. Group Discussion and Q&A: To wrap up the session, the group will come back together, share discussions and the speaker will answer questions.

Virtual Presentation

  1. Initial Speaker Presentation: The speaker will give a 20-30 minute presentation in a common Zoom room.
  2. Topics for Discussion: The speaker will present the attendees with 2-3 questions/ topic ideas.
  3. Sub Group Discussions: Attendees will be sent to multiple breakout rooms for discussion of the Speaker topics, 10-15 minutes.
  4. Group Discussion and Q&A: To wrap up the session, the group will come back together in the main Zoom room, share discussions and the speaker will answer questions.
  5. Virtual Presentations can be live or pre-recorded. In the case of a pre-recorded session, we would anticipate the speaker would be present and available for Q&A.

Virtual Support & Logistics

  • Each Zoom room will have a Host assigned to introduce the speaker and a Techie to handle the technical details of the online meeting.
  • Your proposal can be any format you prefer….. a single speaker, multiple speakers, panel discussion, round table, etc. You choose the best way to communicate your message. Our camps are awesome, and everyday extraordinary things happen. Share your insights, experiences with the COCA community.
