Entry Background/Description: Rapahope's first Family Retreat was in September of 2022. We invited the entire family to attend this program and housed them in cabins for the weekend. At this program our goal was for families to reconnect and build relationships with other families battling childhood cancer. We achieved this goal by having a scheduled weekend with activities for the entire family. Our families went boating, participated in art projects, fished, and had a family game night.
Why You Should Vote for Me: One of the highlights of our weekend was a time set aside specifically for the moms. We had a volunteer who specialized in plant therapy come and help the moms make a potted plant. During this time we had a special brunch complete with fancy china, teacups and finger foods. We also gave the dads an opportunity to fish together and drink coffee. Each group enjoyed getting to know each other and hearing about their journey with childhood cancer. We also had two professional photographers volunteer their time to take family portraits. Our families were so excited, some even brought matching outfits!
