- Entry Background/Description: Rock the River is our incredible annual benefit concert held at the historic Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The iconic venue opened in 1926 and is best known for its rock and roll history of performers including The Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. For the last 9 years, Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River has been thrilled to put on an amazing show featuring talented musicians. Past headliners have included Wycelf Jean, Melissa Etheridge and Max Weinberg. The event also includes a presentation of the Sunrise Champion Award to our honorees, remarks from a camper family and a mission call. Approximately 300 attendees enjoy an open bar and dinner while bidding on our silent auction. This amazing event has raised over $3.7M over the last 9 years to help continue giving summer back to children with cancer and their siblings!
