  • What Should the Voters Know?: What Should the Voters Know about our Camp? …

I can hear him as if he were standing over my shoulder, “You got this”

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed life as we know it—and it may have changed us individually as well, from our morning routines to our life goals and priorities. As an individual, as a group, as a family, and as a community we have all had a trying 2021 year. The adjectives and descriptive words are many. Words like arduous, exasperating, stressful, upsetting, wearisome all come to mind. Emotions are responses to significant internal and external events we yet again, have all experienced this past year. Fear, anger, sadness, confusion, pain, and yes especially grief. There are so many more keywords and expressions of feelings to describe these last 12 months.

“People need to hear about the good you’ve done”

But … (here is the good part) there are also a great/good deal of words and emotions we have also felt! Joy. Passion. Friendship. Gratitude. Hope. Appreciation. Inspiration. Awe. Reverence. Love.

We could tell you of all the preparations, the planning, and programming it took to get Camp going this year. The activity schedules, organizing the camper, and volunteer management. Marketing, budgets, expenses, and meetings were all done within the confines of covid protocols. To say the least, we have had to overcome a few obstacles. A new campsite, new camp staff, and (deep sigh)… not having familiar faces around anymore.

Overcoming obstacles to achieve success despite the odds, is a familiar story for many of us at Camp Discovery as I am sure all across the COCA-I organization. We have learned that we have the capacity for resilience, the ability for strength, and most importantly, that our community is vitally essential.

“See there, you all did a good job. Now let’s start planning for next year.”

    Matthew 25:23
This verse demonstrates how God welcomes his faithful servants into Heaven after a life of work is done. "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'"

    We Love You ALL
