- Entry Background/Description: Camp Delight and Candlelighters Newfoundland and Labrador recently engaged in a research project along with the Department of Social Work at Memorial University of Newfoundland. The research uncovered barriers to attending Camp Delight. Several survey participants indicated that they were hesitant to attend Camp Delight due to a lack of understanding about the day to day activities and uncertainty of what to expect. As a result, the Camp Delight team created this scrapbook document and shared it with our full Candlelighters family membership. We wrote this using kid-friendly language and included loads of fun photos. Our camp traditions and favorite activities are explained in detail so anyone who is on the fence about attending camp can feel much more confident and comfortable.

Camp Delight is the only pediatric oncology camp in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. We are a week-long overnight camp for children impacted by cancer, their siblings, and bereaved siblings. Our families travel from all across our vast province to reunite at Camp Delight each summer.
We constantly strive to engage all families experiencing a diagnosis into our Candlelighters community. Camp Delight is often the entry point for new families into the supports that we offer. Children and youth become friends at camp, and families build supportive relationships, connecting at various Candlelighters events throughout the year.
It is essential that all of our families feel engaged and comfortable, hence the creation of the Camp Delight Scrapbook. This is a resource that introduces our camp traditions, favorite activities and what a child can expect during their first stay at Camp Delight.
