- Entry Background/Description: Our Jr. Bd. hosted the inaugural Derby Bash on May 5th in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby. We sold various sponsorships, including the “Winner’s Circle” & “Homestretch Club”, & sold individual tickets for the “Infield” & “Grandstands”. Guests enjoyed complimentary food, beer & wine with live music. We raised funds through a silent auction, raffles & games. We also had a brief program where guests were encouraged to donate. During the event, guests could visit the Wagering Windows to purchase “Boozy Bingo” & horse race betting tickets. Boozy Bingo is a twist on a popular program activity where guests purchased a spin of the bingo wheel to win a bottle of wine or bourbon. Horse races were shown on the big screen with bets being made by placing a ticket in one of the buckets representing two horses. At the end of the race, a winner was selected from the winning horse’s bucket. Overall, there was great energy from our guests &, most importantly, we raised $125,000 for our programming!
- Why You Should Vote for Me: The inaugural Derby Bash was a huge success, not only because of the funds raised but also because of its uniqueness and attention to detail. All décor, designs and activities were well thought out and our guests took notice. As guests were leaving, most could be heard saying they couldn’t wait for next year with one stating “next year I’m getting a bigger hat!”.
