Entry Background/Description: 2023 brought Camp Heart Connection Oncology and Sibling summer camps back to their first full-week, “normal” camps since 2019 (due to the pandemic). To celebrate the return to normal, the camp theme was determined to be "Welcome Home” with a tagline of “Reunited at Last”. All things Camp Heart Connection carried the theme through all marketing items, apparel and signage. The t-shirt was no exception. The cabin and trees motif is representative of the scenic setting at the Des Moines Y Camp, where Camp Heart Connection holds its summer camps. The camp logo was also incorporated. The tagline as well as sponsor logos were placed on the back of the shirt.
Why You Should Vote for Me: The art was created from scratch. Staff made the decision to keep the front design of the shirt as black outlines with no color or fill due to the fact that tie-dying is a very popular activity at Camp Heart Connection. Leaving things blank meant campers had a built-in item suited well for tie-dying. Campers had an amazing time putting their artistic stamp on the “Welcome Home” shirts that they now have as a keepsake from a magical week.
