Entry Background/Description: Camp Delight in Newfoundland, Canada, is a week-long children's oncology camp for those ages 7 - 17. All of our campers get extra special treatment, but it's known that when you become a "senior" (campers aged 13-17), you get a few extra perks. Our seniors enjoy staying up a little later, going on a haunted hike, and most importantly, going on the Senior Camper Retreat!
During the summer of 2023 we partnered with another community organization called Waypoints, who are building a camp facility for children and youth in foster care. For the Senior Camper Retreat we bussed our youth to their Springwood facility for a day of outdoor adventures, including rock climbing, ropes courses and ziplining. As you can see in the photo, our campers were thrilled with this experience! Many of them were trying these activities for the first time, because they were feeling well enough to try, and because the proper equipment and supports were available to assist with their physical needs.
