Entry Background/Description: When a child is diagnosed with cancer, each family member has his or her own unique struggle. When the child with cancer dies, the burden on family members can seem overwhelming. At Okizu, we offer two weekend-long programs specifically for bereaved family members: our Bereaved Teen Program and Bereaved Family Camp. These programs create an opportunity for bereaved families to get away for a weekend with others who share their experience of loss.
Why You Should Vote for Me: Okizu's Bereavement programs are a key part of our organization. Families have shared that after the loss of their child, they also lose the community that comes with a diagnosis as their journeys begin to change. Our bereavement programs bridge that gap and bring them together with a new group that share experiences similar to their own.
